Beach Bound

Hey guys! I know I said I'd post after Father's Day, but then I got all wrapped up in life and just haven't had the chance!

Father's Day was spent at Nanna's where of course there was lot of yummy barbeque cooked by Aunt Madonna. We also got to spend the day with family and since Grandpaw Don was doing so good we decided to start planning our vacation.

We wanted to go to Tybee Island, but once daddy started calling around he couldn't find anything open for all the days we wanted to stay. Finally daddy found a nice condo that he thought was in Tybee, but we also started exploring other options like St. Simons Island. He booked us a hotel for 1 night that was only $50 for what was supposed to be 2 queen beds. Sounds like a great deal, right?

We left our house around 9 on Wednesday the 23rd and dropped our little dog Chloe off at Nanna's house. Then a late night stop at Taco Bell to feul up for our trip. Finally we were officially on our way at about 10 or 11 that night.

The ride down there was fairly peaceful. Isaac and Abbi got a little rowdy when we got to Atlanta, but that was only because they were so excited about the signs and tall buildings. Finally we made it into Savannah and began our hunt for our room for the night.

When we got there at around 4 in the morning, the man that had our room key spoke little to no English. He gave us our key and lead us to our room. We left all our stuff in the truck and just lugged ourselves up the stairs, ready for a warm, welcoming bed. Unfortunately something a little different was waiting for us. The five of us walked in this tiny room to find not 2 queen beds, but 2 TWIN beds. A tiny bathroom and VERY small kitchenette were also provided.

It was decided that daddy and I would get the beds. At first, Abbi shared a bed with me, but she got too hot and ended up on the floor with momma and Isaac. Checkout was at 10, so after a very restless nap and a change of clothes, we were all up and ready to go to this fabulous condo we had been promised. Turns out the condo is not in Tybee but St. Simons, which is an hour and a half away.

We got some breakfast at a nearby IHOP and then went searching for a nice place to stay in Tybee. Daddy had strict instructions from Isaac. He didn't want to stay in a motel, and he didn't want anyone to have to sleep on a pull-out couch. After looking at a few rediculously priced places, we gave up and made the hour and a half drive to St. Simons Island.

We made it to our condo safely and found that it was very nice. This time we had 2 bedrooms (one with 2 twin beds, one with a king sized bed), a full kitchen, living room, dining area, 2 bathrooms, and a balcony with a view of the ocean. And to make things better, we were only a few steps from the beach!!

By this time the trip is starting to improve. That is until we all got ready for our first night out and Abbi decided she wanted to eat crab at a restaurant called The Crab Trap. Instead of ordering her crab cakes or something like that, my mother orders her a whole blue crab. It comes out fried with legs and all. She's fine, but after a few bites she decides that she doesn't want anymore and no one else can have any either. Daddy and Isaac start telling her that the crab died so she could eat him and if she didn't eat him he died for nothing. By this time, Abbi is having a full meltdown. She is crying and hiding her face in momma's shirt, so she and momma leave to go to the truck.

Overall the next few days were better and it felt like more of a vacation. We spent days on the beach, and even took a few night walks on the beach. We ate bbq at a place called Beachcomber's and bought t-shirts at a souvenier shop. We left on Monday the 28th and headed back home. By this time, we were all ready to get home and be in our own beds.

Nanna had ordered my birthday cake before we left, and it came the Saturday while we were in St. Simons. When we got to Nanna's to pick up Chloe, we ate cake and then headed home.

After a few days at home, I was ready for a much needed visit with Hannah. I hadn't seen her in a while, and we needed a long weekend together. After all, it won't be much longer before she and Tyler move to Rome and I won't get to see her as often. We went Friday night to see Eclipse, and then had hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and cake for my birthday when we got back. The rest of my long weekend was spent shopping, and with Tyler's family for dinner and fireworks on the 4th.

Then today was my daddy's 51st birthday, so me, Daddy, Abbi and a few of our family members all went out to eat at Jim's. Granny Polly, Uncle Mike and the girls, Aunt Joy and Uncle Tim, Hannah and Tyler, and Mandy and Sohie were all there. We all ate cake and had a great visit together. And the good news is we get to do it again this Saturday for Uncle Mike's birthday.

Well I think that's enough for the night. Hope I didn't overload you with too much of my exciting life..ha ha. If you want to see pictures and videos from St Simons and dinner at Tyler's house on the 4th, you can go to my MySpace or Facebook pages.

I passed!!

So I know I said I would post after Father's Day, but I just had to share the good news. I passed my Exit exam for my Math 099 class! Though it doesn't guarantee that I will pass the class as a whole, but I am just so grateful that I was finally able to overcome it. I decided to go with the paper option this time, and it was much easier on me. It was more questions, but this time I was in a room to my self, and I felt like I was able to take my time to work out each question as best I could. Once I was done, the instructor ran it through the Scantron machine and said that I got 42/44 points which means I passed!! I called momma to tell her the good news and she said that caused for a celebration.

Her idea of a celebration was a cookie cake from Lucky's. She wanted to get one that said "Congratulations!", but all they had was "Happy Birthday!" or "Happy Father's Day!".

The thing is, I have been telling her I wanted a cookie cake for my birthday this year. She said we could try it out and see whether or not I still wanted one. I quickly pointed out that a cookie cake from the Great American Cookie Company might be a little different than one from Lucky's grocery store.

Thanks to all of you who have been praying for me. I know it is because of the blessing of the Lord that I am able to say that I passed.

Good news, bad news

Sadly, I failed my math exit exam once again. The good news is that I did do 2 points better on it, but those 2 points were not enough to make it a passing grade. The woman in the testing lab told me that there is a written option for the test, and that I need to contact my instructor to see what he wants me to do. I e-mailed my teacher when I got home, but did not get a response from him yet. If I don't hear from him by tomorrow morning, I plan to call him. I have prayed and prayed and have faith that God will help me pass this test so that I can enjoy my summer with my family! Please continue to pray for me.

Aside from the stress of all that, my Aunt Joy had a great surprise party! She had no idea and my Granny Polly was able to stall her long enough to get everything set up. After the surprise, food, presents and cake, all the kids went swimming in the pool. Or as my cousin Sophie would say "fwimming". Unfortunately I didn't take my camera, or I'm sure I would have some great pics to post. I love days like this when I get to spend time with my wonderful family. Hannah did a great job and a good time was had by all!

My momma and I have been discussing vacation options for next week. She is off and so is daddy, so all we have to do is to decide if we have the money and where to go. Abbi says Smoky Mountains again, but after 3 times in a row, I know what to expect from that place and it almost makes me want to stay home instead of going there. But if it comes to that, I will keep my mouth shut and be grateful for what I get, as always. As we tell the kids at school, "you get what you get and you don't pitch a fit".

Also, momma doesn't want to go too far in case Grandpaw Don gets sick again. He has been doing good after his 2nd trip to the hospital, but we never know when he will end up going back. I am just so thankful that he is feeling better and that we still have him. Though she know she won't be able to do much if she is here, it would make her feel useful to be here in case something does.

Well, gotta go catch up on some laundry. I will post again after Father's Day. Hopefully I will have lots of good pics to post when I talk to you again.

Hey ya'll!

Welcome to my blog! I've never done this before so you may have to bear with me while I work out the kinks and get used to things.

This past week has been a little busy for me. It was my last week of school, so stressing and finals took up most of my time. The finals weren't so bad though. 2 of them were take-home and one of them is online. The thing that may ruin me is the Exit exam for my Math 099 class. If you do not pass the test, you fail the class. Those of you who know me know that math and I are not good friends. I took the test Thursday and failed. I need 37 points and only got 28 :(. The good thing is you get 3tries so hopefully I will get it. I am going to retake it tomorrow so pray for me!

Thankfully this week I have been able to squeeze in a little time with family in the pool though. Since Daddy is usually outside working or off running errands, it is usually just me, Isaac, and Abbi by ourselselves and I am happy to report that the 3 of us are still alive after being cooped up in the house all week together.

My weekend started off good as well. Friday was spent out by the pool, and then yesterday I worked on school stuff all day, but then got to go out to eat with the family. We even drug Isaac along with us. Usually he doesn't like to go, and stays home on the computer. But last night something got into him and he decided to go :).

My Aunt Joy's birthday is coming up Monday, and my cousin Hannah is throwing her a surprise party (shhh!!). I am very excited about her present. I brought out my creative side and made her a basket full of goodies. Below is a picture of it (please ignore the mess that is our kitchen table in the background):

You can't tell what's in it, but it has Bodycology Coconut & Lime Shower Gel, Body Spray, Lotion, and Anitbacterial Hand Soap, a lime green body scrubber and lime green lounge socks. It is wrapped in cellophane wrapping and tied with a gold ribbon. Like I said, I am very proud of this! I know I am bragging, but to me, it looks like something you would buy in a store. I hope she likes it!

I also posted a couple of random pictures of Isaac and Abbi from last night:

Abbi chillin' watching Alice in Wonderland, and Isaac on his beloved computer.

Well, gotta go! Still have lots of school stuff to do!
